I looked “Edge of Tomorrow”, that our distributors have harmoniously translated as “The line of the future “, for which they thank you very much. Without tightening, I will say that this is the best that came out this year. Apart from the final, it was necessary to finish a couple of minutes earlier. Perhaps the final is the only drawback, but an extremely positive moment for those who do not like to be sad about the tragic death of the heroes. Everything is done at the highest level: the plot, idea (almost), action, playing actors and finally not stupid and deadly aliens.

Now about this “all” more details and in order.

Bypassing the introductory credits, the authors fall on us a brief background of the world, resorting to their favorite technique – news reports and briefly explain what the kneading and tsimes of the whole history actually. In the first minutes it turns out the following. Aliens attacked the Earth, with a not very clear distant prospect, but in fact they took up the destruction of millions of Europeans (this time the aliens landed not in the USA but in the center of Europe). The whole conflict with the invasion “Mimic” Thus, alien invaders are called aliens, these aliens are similar to ground, underground and underwater squids, which spin a wolf and tearing everyone into parts, well, or simply wave their tentacles in all directions. The plot, in fact, is an allusion to the “Second World War”. And here and here the war has been going on for 5 years, the Russians and Chinese in the East win aliens, and America is preparing to open a second front with landing in France, having previously posted its bases in Britain. Even the front line passes there.
The only thing that is not clear. Facial expressions at least tried to win Russia? Or rightly decided that any military cunning, Russians will answer unpredictable stupidity.

Only the evil will of the screenwriter doom the heroes to a suicidal mission, and the audience to the mass of a solid action. But about him, as well as about the main symbol of victory (exoskeleton) in a series of “All -metal bitch/ Full Metal Bitch” plays Emily Blanc – A little later.

After the news report about the situation in the world (that at the very beginning) we are introduced to the main character-Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cage (Tom Kruz), who is by the position of agitator and journalist, and he can be attributed only to the army. His story is simple. Having lost the work of an advertising agent, or something in this spirit, he was shut on the US Army, where he continued to engage in the same thing as in a civilian, namely, to release agites and lure the people into the army, and achieved success in this field. Especially he became famous for the video with Emily Blunt in the title role. That is completely not fair, because it is immediately clear that he cut him at the Star Troatza Paul Verkhoven. Nevertheless, after conducting an interview, he goes to talk with the general, and he, not thinking for long, sends him to the front, act as a military correspondent and raise the morale of the soldiers in the immediate vicinity of the enemy, as he did from the TV screens. This prospect is not very pleasing to him, and after an unlucky attempt to blackmail, and he was sent by an ordinary offensive to the advance of the offensive with an equally successful escape. Of course, in the very first minutes of the battle, he dies, but before that he was smeared with the blood of a special alien, Kotya restarts the day in the event of his death.

History unfolds in the near future, when the race ltccasino of aliens, called facial expressions, makes a ruthless attack on the ground, erasing large cities and destroying millions of lives. The army of the Earth will unite forces to enter the last battle with hordes of aliens, knowing that they will not have a second chance.

Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cage – has never been on the battlefield, until he was thrown into the most thick of the fight of an unprepared and poorly equipped, actually condemning to death. After a few minutes, Cage kills, but he captures the alien life with him. And the impossible happens – he wakes up alive at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die … again and again. Direct physical contact with the alien closed a temporary loop, and now Cage again and again goes to the same battle.

But with every return, Cage becomes more cruel and smart in the battle with facial expressions, fighting side by side with a special forces fighter Rita Gate, who destroyed more facial expressions than anyone else on earth. Rita and Cage once after time give the aliens, and each repeating battle brings them closer to unraveling how to kill alien invaders and save the planet.

This is the main feature of the plot, though it is not at all clear how it works, and on what scale. Whether the day is restarted only on Earth or throughout the universe, and much more is not clear. But with these explanations the authors themselves did not bother much. This must be accepted as a fact. And here it begins “Surka Day”, With similar humor and concept, with the only difference being that if the hero of Murray could not overcome one day, then Cage is forced to die every day so as not to lose his beyond the ability.

He uses his abilities for the most effective passage of the “level” on the beach, memorizing all the “scripts” on hardcore. And due to the lack of “checkpoints” you have to restart the entire level with training. Simply, the action looks like the average passage of “Dark Souls” or “Max Payne”, When I try to go through the level without getting damage, and simply memorizing the location of the enemies, so that, from the tenth attempt to break into the next room with enemies and defeat everyone in a second. That’s just the hero of Tom Cruise every time you have to restart the whole game.

He spent more than one month to search for the right road, and during this time he recognized her very closely and even fell in love with. But one day the moment comes when they do not do, someone dies. Here the main contradiction appears in their relationship, the choice between soldier’s debt and a simple desire to stay together, living a day for yourself. I especially want to note the acting game Cruise and the Blan, as well as a normal scenario. Thanks to them, this did not slide into a snotty chatter about the value of life or kvass patriotism against the background of a starry flag. But of course, brave heroes always go around, and the fateful battle filled with heroism, special effects and self -sacrifice, but, well, not overflowing with pathos, will not occur according to the learned pattern. Then then it was necessary to finish the film.

Summing up, I will say. Salvation of Private Ryan (50%)+Surka day (30%)+inglorious bastards (15%)+Star landing (5%) = the line of the future.

It’s definitely worth a look. Great science fiction with a claim to a military drama.
